Those who advise on mortgages, life assurance, pensions, or collective investment schemes are EITHER independent advisers OR representatives of one company OR a limited group of companies. Your adviser is independent and will act on your behalf in advising you on mortgages, life assurance, pensions or collective investment schemes. Because your adviser is independent, they can advise you on the products of different companies.
Kieron Bassett Financial Services is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and bound by the rules of the FCA to advise on and arrange life assurance, pensions, pension income withdrawal, annuities, investments in unit trust, OEIC and investment trust products, ISAs and investment bonds.
Kieron Bassett Financial Services comply with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2012 for advice on mortgages, lifetime mortgages and other secured loans and for advice on general insurance products.
We are authorised by the FCA to offer consumer buy to let mortgages.
We offer you independent financial advice, based solely on the information provided by you, and as we are not tied to any insurance company, we are able to survey the whole market to find the most suitable product for you and advise you on the products of different companies. We will only ever recommend a course of action if we believe it to be suitable for you.
Occasions can arise where we, or one of our other customers, will have some form of interest in business which we are transacting for you. If this happens, or we become aware that our interests or those of our other customers conflict with your interests, we will inform you and obtain your consent before we carry out your instructions.
When we have made arrangements on your behalf, for which you have given us instructions, these arrangements will not be reviewed as a matter of course unless you request it. We will be pleased to advise you further at any time you request us to do so.
We require you to give us instructions in writing or via email, to avoid possible disputes. The instructions may take the form of the proposal form for an investment or insurance company. We will accept verbal instructions provided they are confirmed in writing. We will make arrangements for all your investments to be registered in your name unless you first instruct us otherwise in writing or via email. We will forward to you any documents showing ownership of your investments if we receive them.
You have the right to inspect copies of contract notes, vouchers and entries in our books or computerised records relating to your transactions. All client records are confidential so we will provide you with copies of your own records if access to original files would prejudice this confidentiality. We maintain records of our business transactions for at least six years.
All investments carry a degree of financial risk which will tend to increase in proportion to the potential rate of return on the investments. Any product which is directly or indirectly invested in assets which may fall in value (for example equities) may itself fall in value along with any decrease in value of those assets. Before entering into any investment agreement, you must ensure that you understand the risk associated with the product and are content to accept that level of risk.
We cannot guarantee the solvency of any insurer with which we place business. This means that you may still be liable for any premium due and not be able to recover the premium paid, whether in full or in part, should an insurer become insolvent.
Kieron Bassett Financial Services selects general insurance products from a range of insurers, but for certain products, we may only deal with a single insurer or select from a limited number of insurers. We select retail insurance products from a wide range of insurers. You can request a list of insurers from whom we offer insurance. In arranging insurance for our clients, we act as an intermediary. At times, we may pass on general commercial related enquiries to a specialist intermediary in order to ensure that our clients are obtaining the right level of cover at a competitive price. We act on your behalf in arranging your insurance, although, at times we transact business through specialist intermediaries, Abacus, 3XD, Paymentshield, The Exchange, The Source, Higos Insurance Services and Uinsure. Our arrangements allow us to offer a wide range of personal insurance products and to have access to leading insurance companies in the marketplace.
It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information when you take out your insurance policy. It is important that you ensure that all statements you make on proposal forms and other documents are full and accurate. It is also your duty to ensure that you inform us of any changes in the risk or material facts which occur during the term of the policy and when the policy renews. We will accept verbal instructions provided they are confirmed in writing or via email. Please note that failure to disclose any material information which could influence the insurers’ attitude to renewal or terms of contract could seriously affect your cover in the event of a claim. This means that part or all of a claim may not be paid.
Kieron Bassett Financial Services receives commission on average of 20% of the net premium for each annual contract. The maximum we receive is 30% and the minimum we receive is nil from the respective insurance companies or broker that we deal with. We reserve the right to charge a broker fee and we will inform you of the fee in writing prior to the start of the contract.
We derive our income from either commission paid to us in respect of transactions which we have arranged on your behalf, or from fee-based advice, or a combination of both. Please refer to our ‘menu’ for full details of our fees.
We have in place an internal complaint handling procedure. If you should have cause to complain about the advice you have received or a product you have purchased, please contact The Compliance Officer, Kieron Bassett Financial Services, 32 Victoria Street, Morecambe, Lancashire, LA4 4AJ; Telephone 01524 832057; e-mail info@kieronbassett.com. If you make a valid claim against the member in respect of the investments, we arranged for you and we are unable to meet our liabilities in full, you may be entitled to redress from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. We shall be pleased to provide details of the scheme on request. Further information is available from the Financial Conduct Authority and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
Where services are provided to us by other authorised companies, then occasions can arise where client details are passed on a confidential basis to these companies.
Kieron Bassett Financial Services does not handle clients’ money. We never accept a cheque made out to us, or accept cash, unless it is in settlement of charges or disbursements for which we have sent you an invoice.
You, or we, may terminate our authority to act on your behalf at any time without penalty. Notice of this termination must be given in writing. Any business currently being completed will be completed unless we receive your instructions to the contrary. Any fees outstanding at the date of termination will be due within 4 weeks of the termination date.
We hold Professional Indemnity Insurance Cover to a limit of £2,000,000 for any one claim.
We undertake to pay 1% of our profits to charities of our choice each year.
