From the moment your first child is born, everything changes. It is no longer about looking after number one, you have a baby to take care of. We all say we will put them before ourselves and do whatever we can to make sure they are happy, safe and they always have a roof over their head.
So let’s look at those three things we say we will do. It’s not always easy to make them happy all the time, but we try our best. Whether it is giving them a cuddle, acting silly to try cheer them up, taking them places and doing things or buying them things to enjoy, we give it a good go.
Next, how do we make them safe. We would do whatever we can to keep them from harms way, however big or small you are the super-hero protectors, and ready for action whenever needed. When there’s a monster on the television, we are there to say it’s not real. When it’s thunder and lightning outside, we are there to stop them being scared. When everybody’s in bed and there’s a noise downstairs, we are there to come to the rescue, armed with whatever we can find, be it a shoe, deodorant can or a hairbrush, it doesn’t matter, it is our job to protect.
Lastly, how do we keep that roof over their head. This is the hardest one, because life, work and earning money can be tough. But as long as we are alive, able to work, and able to find work, we should be going out there and earning so that we can provide for our family and keep that roof over their head, and most of us do. But what about if we are not able to earn money for them anymore, due to an accident, sickness or death? How do we look after them then? If you don’t have the correct insurance, sufficient wealth, or a magical pot of gold in your front room that spits out money, then you can’t. It may be too late, and their life may be a struggle until they are older and able to fend for themselves, and even then the damage may already be done. Statistically, those that have grown up in poverty, find it much harder to get out of that cycle.
So if everybody says they want to make sure their family has a roof over their heads and will put them first, why does everybody who needs life, critical illness and sickness insurance not have it? There are some people who can’t get insurance due to their medical history, then that is out of their hands and should anything bad happen, they have done all they can do. Some people can’t afford it, and when I say they can’t afford it I’m talking about the people who really can’t afford it, literally do not have a penny left over after the bills are paid and mouths are fed. They are not people who feel hard done by because they only have one holiday a year, don’t have movies on satellite TV subscription and have to share a car. That is another category, people who don’t want to pay for it and have made a conscious choice that material things take priority over their children’s financial stability. The last reason is those who do not understand or have not properly considered the consequences of death, accident or sickness. These things happen to people every single day, everywhere in the world to every type of person.
So, if you don’t yet have sufficient cover to protect your family, get it sorted today. Mummy and Daddy need to wear their super hero cape all the time, because they are the ones that protect their children, not just from the world but from everything life throws at us.
